Meet "Maria" and learn how language learning is experienced and internalized by English Language Learner in this brief interview.


Maria, at the age of 5, moved to the United States with her family from Mexico to join her uncle. She tells her story of being a Kindergartner as she learns a new language, in a new country with different cultural values. She is now 25 years old and is a successful, bilingual adult.  She lives in the same household with her parents and extended family. After living in the United States for 20 years, her family values are still very important to her.
